Louisville is on a quest to earn 55,000 degrees by 2020. The number is so powerful that they decided to brand their regional partnership of leaders from higher ed, the business community, community organizations, foundations, and K-12
55,000 Degrees.
55,000 Degrees is a data-driven effort that holds each partner group accountable for the goals they have set. Among those goals: to help 3,500 employees complete their degrees by 2014; to create a college-going culture, where every elementary school students know the year they will graduate from college; to increase persistence, performance, and progress in college; to make post-secondary education more affordable and accessible.
"Everyone is taking some responsibility," says Mary Gwen Wheeler, executive director of 55,000 Degrees.
